Haulage Software Free Trial: A 14-Day Test Plan
Use this day-by-day trial plan to test haulage software with real checks, jobs, POD, defects and office records before buying.
A free trial is valuable only when it tests a real operational chain. Clicking through menus for fourteen days proves very little. The operator needs to see whether drivers, planners and managers can complete a normal day and retrieve the resulting evidence.
Keep the pilot deliberately small: one or two vehicles, two drivers, a real customer and representative jobs. That creates meaningful evidence without risking a disruptive fleet-wide change.
Days 1 to 3: set up the minimum
Add representative vehicles, trailers, drivers, customers and locations. Check field names, expiry dates, user permissions and whether existing data can be imported cleanly.
Invite one confident driver and one less technical driver. Their combined feedback is more useful than testing only with the person who selected the system.
Days 4 to 9: run operational workflows
Complete a nil-defect walkaround, a failed-item check and the office defect review. Create a Fast Job and a multi-stop Journey, assign resources, update statuses and capture signature or photo POD where appropriate.
Ask the office to find each record without help. A record that exists but cannot be found quickly will still create friction during a busy shift or audit.
Days 10 to 14: test exceptions and exit
Test a changed driver, a VOR vehicle, a missed POD, a duplicate assignment, an overdue record and a data export. Review the mobile experience with weak connectivity and confirm the contingency process if the service is unavailable.
At the end, list the removed steps, remaining workarounds, training needs and unresolved blockers. Export the sample data so you understand portability before paying.
A buying checklist to use before you commit
- One real walkaround check
- One defect from report to closure
- One Fast Job and one Journey
- One POD with the required evidence
- One resource reassignment or planning conflict
- One report or audit retrieval
- One export and cancellation review
Do not score a platform from its feature list alone. Test one real vehicle, one real driver and one real job from start to finish. The useful question is not “does the menu contain this word?” but “can our team complete the workflow and retrieve the evidence without a workaround?”
Where HauliK fits
HauliK offers a 14-day trial with no card required. The trial can be used to test the connected office and driver workflow before selecting a paid plan.
A useful pilot can cover digital checks, defect review, job dispatch, multi-stop records and POD. Operators considering Ultra can also inspect planning, manifests and the invoicing workflow.
Important limits: Do not test HauliK for live tracking, route optimisation, remote tachograph downloads or accounting integration because those are not current product capabilities.
The current plans and per-vehicle prices are published on the HauliK pricing page. Check that page before making a decision because plan access and prices can change.
Test it with your own operation
A sales presentation cannot tell you whether drivers will complete the checks, whether planners can find the right job or whether the office can retrieve a POD quickly. A short test using your own workflow can.
Start a 14-day HauliK trial with no credit card, or request a guided demo if you want to walk through the fit with the HauliK team. Add a small sample of your real fleet rather than rebuilding the whole operation on day one.
Frequently asked questions
Should the whole fleet join the trial? Usually no. A representative sample reduces disruption and produces a clearer decision.
Should we use fake data? Use non-sensitive but operationally realistic data. A completely artificial workflow can hide the friction that matters.
What is a trial blocker? Any required workflow that cannot be completed safely, retrieved reliably or exported without an unacceptable workaround.
The decision in one sentence
A trial succeeds when the team proves a complete workflow with its own operating reality—not when every screen has been opened once.
